Sabin is beyond honored to be a part of this memorial that honors the more than 4,000,000 American men and women who served in uniform, and the 116,000 people from the United States who gave their lives, in the Great War.
Mr. Weishaar’s design includes long bronze walls covered with bas reliefs; these are being executed by Sabin Howard, based on his design concept drawings. The intention for the artwork is to educate the public and to commemorate those who served in the war.
One of the great strengths of this design is that it preserves the park as a park, and it integrates seamlessly with the surrounding neighborhood.
This design has now passed all agency approvals; with the blessing of the National Park Service, ground was broken at Pershing Park in November, 2019.
Sabin commenced principal sculpture for the National WWI Memorial on August 26, 2019.
